“Smells Like Teen Spirit” propelled Nirvana to stardom
The guitar is a left-handed 1969 Fender Mustang with a blue finish. The leader of Nirvana was using it during the recording for the “Smells Like Teen Spirit” video. This clip was first broadcasted on September 29, 1991, and helped the grunge band become a global sensation.
This is also the first time that this guitar is up for sale. In the past, it was displayed at the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle. Furthermore, this 1969 Fender Mustang was a priced possession of Kurt Cobain who found it hard to find good guitars for left-handed people. Part of the proceeds of this sale will go to a charity raising awareness about mental health.
